5,The necessity of publications on
Islam
There is no illiteracy in Japan and we can say
that the citizens are book-loving people. Books, which provide a lot of
information, have a big influence.
Lets
take the new religions for example, which are penetrating at a dangerously rapid
pace in the following ways:
1. home visits by the missionaries
2. distributing the books and publications
Therefore, these should be the best ways in
this county at present.
If
the false religions have succeeded, why can’t the true religion, Islam, the
words of God, attract them? However, 1,the former is not appropriate for the
small number of Muslims in Japan. 2, the latter---the books and publications---,
should be effective enough to penetrate Islam into Japan---this is actually the
start of many Japanese Muslims. There already are many publications on Islam and
they are available at book stores, but most of them are written by the Oriental
scholars and are critical of Islam. It is difficult to get ones written by
Muslim scholars. As a result, the Japanese Muslims should make up this
deficiency.
6?The Japanese students
at Islam countries
I have already mentioned the importance of
sending Japanese students to Arabic Islamic countries for studying. Many
Japanese Muslims have been staying in Islam countries since the 1960’s. However,
it is very hard for Japanese Muslims to keep the study of Islam and few students
can graduate from the university. This is because;
1. they are newly converted and have little basic knowledge of
Islam
2. the usual way of learning at Arabic Islamic universities is
reciting, but it is not suitable for Japanese, who are not used to this style
from young age. Therefore, the learning and understanding should be given
priority.
3. They have never recited one phrase of the
Koran.
4. It takes them a long time to enter the university, for they
don’t speak Arabic. This is very hard for those who have already graduated from
universities.
From these points, it is obvious that they
have a lot of problems in studying with the other Muslims who are from Islamic
community.
