Otou union is a sample of very old historical
tradition herited by people of Odagahama during more than 500
years long.
Otou which means captain or head is the role of priest in the
village of this district where the priest once was abscent in
the age of newly developed area.
People firstly built shirines of Japanese tradition in the new
developed area and the oldest leaders played the role of priest
in return by their order or age for one year. Even after the
priest came to the shrine, they had continued to help priest
to do religious ceremonies in the annial schedules. And nearly
in the 21st century, people now still have herited the long traditon
coming up today. |
