- At its core, Cookie Clicker is an incremental game (also known as an idle game or clicker game) developed by French programmer Julien "Orteil" Thiennot in 2013. The gameplay is remarkably simple: you start with a single, clickable cookie. Each click earns you one cookie. With those cookies, you can purchase upgrades that automatically generate more cookies per second (CPS). These upgrades range from grandmas baking cookies in their kitchens to literal cookie factories churning out millions of cookies.
