HISTORY OF ODAGAHAMA

Editor of HAMA-NET

1
Odagahama had no name before, but people are used to call Her Odagahama since the beginning of the Movement. In my childhood, people call Her simply "hama",that is sheashore itself. As if we call our mother, as Mother.

2
Today, Odagahama is still beautiful enough when we look to the east. But, when we
look back to the west, we can see the large component block of manmade land in the
sea of Setonaikai National Park.

3
The Great Bridges of Setonaikai have been opened in 1999 which connect Imabari City and Onomichi City crossing over The Kurushima Straghts. This bridges are the third route to connect Shikoku and Honshiu.

4
In my childhood, hama (seashore) is our play world. Hama is a School of Naure. We
spent time all day long for fishing, swimming and camping. Fishermen gave us plenty of fishes when the fishing boat came back from off-coast.

5
Dream of childhood had already faded out, and we the grownup men must face the reality of modern ages. How the Nature and Industry co-exist in the 21st Century ?
We are going to the End of Limit of balance of them before the new coming century.

6
We have no means of complete protection of Nature on Earth. Seashore is one of the representatives of Nature on Earth. Seashore still live now on Earth. Seashore is still beautiful enough. Because Sea is the Mother of all living things on Earth.
