1899 Sakurai Gou
The Catalog of Seishou Nanga art Exhibition held in 1987 by Shimada Museum revealed that about 10 Nanga art works had been returned to Kumamoto from Sakurai District during these 100 years. We think Iyo Sakurai was very important place for Seishou to draw Nanga art. So he came to Iyo Sakurai more than 4 times during 20 years between 1880 and 1899.
And we recognize it is very important Iyo Sakurai and Kumamoto have resumed cultural exchange with each other since 1899 beyond the long interval of 100 years. This year 1999 is the year of centennial commemoration of Seishou Taketomi who died in December of 1899.
We express thanks for many owners of Seihsou Nanga art in Sakurai District and also for Shimada Museum who has sent us precious Catalog of Exhibition held in 1987.
We hope this small Home Page "
Seishou Taketomi centennial commemoration Nanga art Internet Exhibition"could contribute to Seishou Taketomi himself and meny other people who supported him, especially Tekken Ishimaru, an old friend of Seishou for more than 20 years long. Thank you. (Editor of Home Page: Nov.3, 1999)
